New Brunswick, New Jersey -

New Brunswick, NJ May 2008 — Effective June 1, 2008, the NJ Dirty Dames (NJDD) roller derby league is proud to announce a merge with the Garden State Rollergirls of Newark, NJ. On Sunday, May 25, the Dirty Dames will pay homage to its long-time fans, friends, and family as the league hosts its final home bout free to the public at the Kendall Park Roller Rink in Kendall Park, NJ.

“This is something we’ve considered for a while now, and we felt this as the right path for our league to take leading into a larger population of skaters and the ability to do more for our fans,” says current NJDD president Kristen Arban. “While we’ve become sentimental about losing the NJ Dirty Dames name, we’re all strong women and promise that we’ll continue on strong in the future.”

The NJ Dirty Dames, founded in March 2006 as the first flat-track roller derby league in NJ, will retire the Dirty Dames name and instead skate as part of the Garden State Rollergirls league. NJDD’s current all-star travel team, the Hub City Hellrazors, will continue its 2008 season as a new intra-league team under the Garden State Rollergirls.

The Dirty Dames league hosts its last home bout at the Kendall Park Roller Rink, 3550 State Route 27, Kendall Park, NJ on May 25, 2008 at 7:00 pm debuting a one-time only showing of two never-before-seen Dirty Dames’ intra-league teams, The Rink Wreckers and Troop 666. These two teams, comprised of veteran skaters from the Hub City Hellrazors as well as the league’s newcomers to the sport will get to skate one last time.

This bout is free of charge to the public with any donations going to the Ryan Miller Heart Foundation and will be a chance for long-time fans, friends, and family of the Dirty Dames to come together witnessing the women competing one last time in Kendall Park. Following this bout, all home games by the Hub City Hellrazors will be played at Branch Brook Park Roller Skating Center in Newark, NJ, home of the Garden State Rollergirls.
